RRC 2015/16 – New season, new teams, new format…

We are just two weeks away from beginning of new, 2015/16 RRC season. After spectacular RRC Final match in Zenica in front of big crowd and first title for RK Čelik, this season is bringing us some changes: some new teams are here, some “old” teams are coming back and RRC is turning back to league system of competition.

First time this year teams of Beograd and Dalmacija will join RRC. Team Beograd is selection of players from rugby clubs in Belgrade and team Dalmacija is selection of players from rugby clubs in Dalmatia region, with exception of RK Nada. RC Donau Wien and RK Ljubljana are coming back to RRC after two and three years pause, respectively. After few years of reorganizing and building new team, both clubs are entering competition with big hope and goals. Finally, there are two natives, RK Čelik Zenica and RK Nada Split. The only two clubs that have so far won RRC needs no special introduction. Those six teams will compete for ninth RRC trophy.

In 2015-2016 season RRC will be played as single round-robin competition during September of 2015 and March of 2016. In Match center section of RRS Web Site you can find fixtures and table with explanation of ranking rules.

Matches of first round are RC Donau vs. Beograd, Dalmacija vs. RK Ljubljana and RK Čelik vs. RK Nada.

See you there!

2014/15 RRC Champions – RK Čelik Zenica

Final RRC match in Zenica

In front of 1.500 spectators RK Čelik Zenica won the 2014/15 RRC Trophy. RK Čelik has won all six RRC matches this season and thus prove to have the quality, dedication and sportsmanship needed to win RRC trophy.

This RRC Final match in Zenica was big celebration of rugby spirit and game of rugby. Fantastic atmosphere and beautiful Sunday at Kamberovića polje stadium brought to us great rugby full of spirit and dedication of players of both teams. RK Čelik started much better by scoring 17 points in first 20 minutes of the match. RK Nada just wasn’t able to respond to Čelik’s aggressive defense and pragmatic and wise attack led by Sabahudin Subašić. Čelik’s number 10, in addition of being top scorer with 24 points (1 try, 2 conversions and 5 successful penalty kicks), was true conductor of Čelik’s team.

In second half Nada brought on some additional power and skills with Buzov and Čulić, but that was not enough to overcome Čelik’s spirit. Nada scored and converted two tries, but fighting spirit of the team and three successfully executed penalty kicks by Subašić brought regional title to Zenica. Big celebration in Zenica started at the moment of final whistle and lasted long in the night…

The match was very well managed by referee Predrag Štiglić from Belgrade.
