Introducing gas.hu Battai Bulldogok RC

As all are looking forward to Saturday’s RRC match between four time RRC champion RK Nada and Hungarian national champion gas.hu Battai Bulldogok RC, here are some facts and figures alongside with impressions and “predicted future”…

The Club was founded 1989. Bulldogok are four times Hungarian national champion, all after 1998, and most recently they defended their throne from 2009-2011. They have outstanding results in CEE Rugby Cup: 15-10 loss to Romanian Super-Liga side Timisoara, 3-out-of-3 wins against Czech Top6 Dragon Brno and 2 wins and 2 defeats against Czech Champion Ricany.
They have many capped players, the national team sported 15 of their players in the match day 22 against Norway in June (12 starters). Last season European U20 Championship runner-up team sported 11 Bulldogok players (lost in the final to Lithuania 15-11).
Two most famous players are Miklos Dobai and Robert Deli, both 50+ caps, the former being selected since mid-90’s (absent from the national team in the early 2000’s).
Match day squad includes only one international player, Ukrainian Vasyl Glushenko, prop forward to the current Six Nations Ukraine team, and heading to French Div2 Montauban after Autumn season.
Team Captain is the 22-year old Laszlo Janotka known for his effective kicking, and wit compared to his gentle age. Biggest future prospects are fly-half Jonathan Katona, 18, who has been scanned by Premiership Sale Sharks, scrum-half Gergo Ban, 21, also on radar at Montauban, and center Gergo Gaspar, 24, who spent the Spring season at Spanish top flight Valencia.
Their coach is Vyacheslav Kuzmenko, from Ukraine, 40+ caps in the Soviet Union, ex national coach of Hungary and Switzerland.
President and youth director is Sandor Toth, coach of U18 and U16 club teams that have been age grade champions in the last 6-7 years continuously.
